Southern DisComfort Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

The most standard sense of security
I could not contain.
I paused for a moment
At the door, as I adjusted my dress
By the filtered distortion
Reflected on the glass in the cast iron door.

I entered the qualifying heat
For a round of Southern Hospitality?
Armed only with your love & confidence
Aspiring for approval & acceptance
From the judgmental eyes of Sapphires.

Fiddling with my drink
I circulated, introducing myself.
Picking up vibes and small talks;
Like dips & hors d`oeuvres.
Swallowing comments;
Like gulping my drink
Biting my tongue;
Like chewing on overcooked turkey & dressings.
Accepting ignorance & rejections;
With sweet potato pie & coffee..

Reaching out?.

The game of Life
As Butch has comfortingly named it
Was a struggle for survival
I think I lived it & won.

You are the Man Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Yeah, you are the man,
The one whom your mother
Neglected to love.

Yeah, you are the man,
The one who does not know
How to love.

Yeah, you re the man,
The one whom my girls
Seek in other men.

Yeah, you are the man,
The one in the men who
could not love my girls back.

Yeah, you are the man,
The one whom your mother
Had abandoned.

Yeah, you are the man,
The only one who could
justify the abandonment.

Yeah, you are the man.
The one who determined
Without you I would be happier.
I am!

Yeah, you are THE MAN!

You're Here Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

You're Here

It isn't any easier
Missing you here
Just because you have never been here with me.

Yes, even here,
Where you have never been
You're here with me.
I can see you, hear you and feel you.
I can smell you in the air.

I wish I could tell you now.

Belles Than Brains Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Belles Than Brains
You, like many of my buddies,
In your thirties, conjugal crisis
Courting belles than brains,
Settled for a pretty peasant & you could never farm.

You, like many of my buddies
In your forties, progeny crisis,
Raising belles than brains,
Settled for a pretty peasant & she could never school.

You, like many of my buddies,
In your fifties, mid-life crisis,
Lamenting belles than brains,
Settled for a pretty peasant & you could only rant.
